 That Official Rule Thing
« Thread Started on Oct 19, 2008, 11:32am »

Its time we came up with a formal set of rules for this site. These are in place to be followed, and to help make playing along enjoyable for everyone.

Acceptance
You will not be able to post in the RP, until your character application has been approved. This helps us maintain the board from Spam, and also allows us to help integrate characters as they apply. You may post as a guest in the General thread and on the Cbox until that time. Feel free to use these venues to meet other players, ask questions, and get application help.

Character Limit
When you first start out in the RP, only one character will be allowed per player. If you feel that you can handle a secondary character, you must ask for permission from an admin to create one. Certain factors will help in determining if we feel you can take on a secondary character.
Post count: You have more than 25 posts as your first character.
Frequency of posting: We're not looking for you to post five times a day, but that you are able to keep up in the threads with the character you have already. Major lags in game play will only get worse with more character obligations. General guidelines for posting frequency would be an average of three days between your responses. Players who respond to threads on a consistant basis will be granted secondary characters.

There will be exceptions to these rules on occasion. Players who already have more than one character, (As of October 18th, 2008) are permitted to keep them. Admins are exempt from this limit in regards to NPCs and general plot creations.

Character Biography
Once you're character application is accepted, it is sent to the Character Bio thread. Here is where it will remain so that other players can get a sense of who's on the board, and the types of characters playing. It is perfectly fine, and encouraged to read the bios of the characters you are playing with. For example, if a character's bio states that they speak with an accent, feel free to use that in your character's observation of the other character. But keep in mind, that the 'internal thoughts' and ideals mentioned in these bios are not something your character will know just looking at the person. Please don't call characters on things your character couldn't have possibly known.

'God Modding'
Plainly. Don't do it. It kills thought process, general plotting and all the fun. Do not write for another character. Not their actions, their thoughts, or what they've said. Even if you are sure in what it is they are going to do. It's not your character, don't 'move' them in any way. If it is seen by one of the Mods on the board, the player will be cautioned. We understand these instances happen. No one will be banned for innocent misunderstandings.

Posting
Posts are to be written in the third person, paragraph form. No single sentences, or first person writing are allowed. The story is read through the entire board like a book. Think of any lurkers we have reading along here. They're following the story as a whole. Help them out by keeping to consistent posting rules. No coloured text, or emoticons are to be used in the RP. Standard posts should be a minimum of five sentences long. Where possible, use entrance and exit parentheses. It helps in following the character's progression through the story. Please refrain from using OOC brackets in the post itself. Contact players through PMs, the Cbox, or the General board. If for any reason you are having trouble with your turn at play, contact the players involved in the thread, or the Mods for help. Everybody is here to be part of the story, and are more than happy to help.

General Conduct

Playing a GAME.
Please remember that this is only just a game. Its 'pretend'. Make believe, for the enjoyment of the writers on the board. Actions of characters, thoughts, feelings are to be taken in context of the game itself. Not to be taken personally by the players involved.

That said, please remember that there are real people behind these characters. Should your character do or say something that you think might cause offense beyond the realm of 'the story', do the right thing and contact the player(s) involved. Open lines of communication are what keep the story moving along seamlessly. Should the situation not be able to be resolved between players, Mods have final say to any and all outcomes.

Language
Offensive language in context is permitted in this RP. That is not to say, that even if your character is created to be 'linguisticly offensive' that entire posts may be written in expletives. Even the most offensive personality, can manage to get through a post without making the reader's eyes bleed. In moderation, in context, and when necessary, offensive language will be considered justified.

Graphic Nature
Imaginatives is based on a Primetime Television show. Descriptions, and details outlined in the posts here, will be subject to the same ratings applied to American Primetime regulations. Violence and suggestive sexual content are acceptable, but players are asked to fade to black when suggestive becomes more than blantant.

Disputes
We're a group of gown adults. All the same, misunderstandings and mis-communications can and do happen. We expect players to handle themselves in a respectable manner. If you have a problem in a thread, with a player, or a plot line, communicate with those involved and try to solve the issue of your own accord. In the event that a situation can't be resolved between players, Mods will step in to help mediate and sort out the situation. Mods have final say in the matter.

Final word:
Please remember, Imaginatives is a Role Play Game. These rules are in place to make the playing experience a more enjoyable one. If you have any trouble, or need help creating a character or plot idea, please don't hesitate to contact the Mods. Either by PM on the board, Captain Jim Brass, or Abigail Carmichael. Or by emailing the Mods directly. Scsimaginatives@gmail.com

Have fun!
